Hello there!

Austin Town Lake Trail by Lacey Baier, a sweet pea chef

Now that Dustin, Jordan and I are officially Texas residents, we wanted to do our first fun activity as such. Before moving to Austin, I read about all the great trails and scenic areas Austin has to offer, but we hadn’t yet had an opportunity to check them out.

One specific trail that really interested me was Austin’s Town Lake Trail which travels along Lake Austin near the downtown area. During the warmer months, this area is usually packed with joggers, walkers, bicyclists and the like, but we found this trail mostly to ourselves in the early (chilly) morning. Score!

Well, it was a bit colder than I’m used to (about 42 degrees at 9:30 a.m.), but we really enjoyed this trail.

*Note to self: I seriously need to purchase (1) a beanie, (2) gloves and (3) a heavy jacket. My California-wear is just not cutting it.

I thought this trail was so pretty that I wanted to share with you for my Saturday post.

As I look through these pictures, I already want to go again. I’m sure it will become a favorite walking and running area for us. It was so peaceful, beautiful and, well, awesome.

I just love the brisk winter air, the beautiful scenery and the changes in colors all around us in the trees. I can tell I am very much going to enjoy living in Austin.

We also noticed you could go kayaking along the lake which sounds like a great time…though likely for warmer weather. I know, right? Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. We are spending a few days in Arkansas for Dustin’s father’s memorial service, but plan to be back to our new home soon.

Enjoy!
