I’ve been meaning to tell you about this fabulous experience we had a little while ago…with some balsamic vinegars. What? That can happen.
We tried out this awesome little oil and vinegar shop called Con’ Olio in Austin. Just think wine tasting meets oil and vinegar tasting. You with me?
Now, I love wine tasting, but I think this may have been better.
We sampled (for free, mind you!) dozens of different types of olive oils and balsamic vinegars and were educated about where they came from, what they were made of and all sorts of other interesting facts.
The whole experience was very exciting. I felt like I could just live in that store and drink my meals forever…with options like Black Truffle Olive Oil, Meyer Lemon Olive Oil, Tuscan Herb Olive Oil, Persian Lime Olive Oil, Dark Chocolate Balsamic Vinegar, Tangerine Balsamic Vinegar, Wild Blueberry Balsamic Vinegar, Fig Balsamic Vinegar, Golden Pineapple Balsamic Vinegar. Oh my! The list went on and on. And I sampled them. And it was good.
Oh — and we bought some, too! We brought home an 18-year old aged Balsamic Vinegar (to die for, by the way), Cinnamon Pear Balsamic Vinegar, Blood Orange Olive Oil, Black Cherry Balsamic Vinegar, Herbes de Provence Olive Oil, Summer Peach Olive Oil, Natural Butter Olive Oil (tastes just like butter) and Porcini Olive Oil. Don’t worry, I’m sure we will be back to get more soon.
We’ve already made a Blood Orange and Black Cherry Balsamic Vinaigrette for our salads, a Summer Peach and Natural Butter Olive Oil topping for some oatmeal and a Cinnamon Pear Balsamic Reduction with roasted duck. Um…yum! I’m thinking my Black Cherry Balsamic Vinegar needs to meet up with the vanilla ice cream in my freezer. Like…now. Who’s with me?
Have a great weekend!
Enjoy!

Oh I wish I had a place like this near me! Though my frugal ways might fly right out the window.
Yes, Jia, it is definitely a treat to go. Fortunately, my mother-in-law treated us to 50% off coupons when we went.
I just purchased a Black Cherry Balsamic and used it over a banana with some coconut sprinkled on top….Pretty tasty!!!
Interesting combination, Janelle! Thanks for sharing
