Happy New Year!

For this weekend post, I thought I’d share the results of my latest poll. Thank you to all of you who voted. I truly appreciate your support and participation.

Poll Results: What should be my first Texas BBQ?

As you can see, most people voted for BBQ Brisket to be my Texas inaugural BBQ meal.  And, to those people, Dustin thanks you dearly.

BBQ Brisket ran away with this poll by receiving a whopping 75% of the votes, while BBQ chicken received 15%, BBQ Beans received 4% and BBQ Sausage tied with BBQ Ham with 3%.  There were a total of 93 votes for this poll.  Awesome.

So, looks like we’re having BBQ Brisket!  I plan to make this very soon, so stay tuned!  I’m not sure if I’m more excited to try my hand at actually making the BBQ Brisket or to actually have the left-overs as brisket sandwiches.  Yum.

As for my next poll, I hope you get a chance to check it out.  I’m interested in making something Japanese and would like your input on what it should be.  I know…BBQ to Japanese?  Crazy, I know.  Blame it on the pregnancy.

And, for those of you who are keeping track and/or keeping me honest, I wanted to update you about my cookbook.  Now that Dustin, Jordan and I are “settled” in Austin, I have been able to get back on track and am hoping to have my cookbook released within the upcoming weeks.  So, if you’re not signed up yet, make sure to sign up for my newsletter (look to the left banner on my website) to receive your FREE copy of my online cookbook.

Enjoy!

  • Wahoo! Brisket won. I’m pumped! If you’re looking for tips, The Complete Package uses post oak hardwood lump charcoal for smoking meats. It gives everything a heavenly smoked flavor. We buy it as HEB. And if you need inspiration, I would encourage you to visit The Salt Lick BBQ out in Driftwood (southwest of Austin). I know it’s farther out, but it is SO MUCH BETTER than the smaller branches in town. It’s my favorite restaurant brisket. As for Japanese, I’d love to see you tackle a sweet rice dessert and sushi (except the raw stuff since you’re pregnant). Hey…maybe that’s your angle. Sushi for expectant mothers!

    • Hi Jeanne! Yep — and brisket won pretty much by a landslide. Good to know about The Complete Package — thanks! We made it out to the Salt Lick in Round Rock but still really want to go the southern one. It’s on our list of definite to-do’s. A sweet rice dessert, eh? Very interesting. Haha: sushi for expectant mothers — love it! :)

  • Happiest of new years to you Lacey! also…my vegan diet is over – I lost the weight I wanted to take off – and I’m now easing into a more refined vegetarian diet with the occasional meal of meat. I do love me some brisket, and if I recall correctly, I voted for The Brisket!!!
