So we all agree that peppermint shakes are delicious, right?
I mean — it’s peppermint and ice cream…what’s NOT to love about that?
What I love so much about this peppermint milkshake recipe is its simplicity.
Four ingredients = simplicity.
Plus, it takes less than 6 minutes — if — to make yourself one of these cool, refreshing, and creamy milkshakes.
And, this time of year, who doesn’t have some random candy canes just lying around waiting to be made into something tasty?
That’s not just me, right?
I don’t see old candy canes, I see future peppermint milkshakes. And you will, too.
If you don’t have candy canes, you could use peppermint candies and crush them or you can just go the even easier route and buy pre-crushed peppermint. It’s in the candy aisle near the peppermint candies and it’s super useful for making pepperminty things like this peppermint bark recipe which you should totally try.
One tip I’d like to note about making milkshakes is to pay attention the ice cream. You get what you put in. So, if you put in delicious, creamy, and rich ice cream, you’ll get that same goodness in the final milkshake (and vise versa).
Given this, I recommend using the best ice cream you can get your hands on. Out here in Austin, it’s Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla if you’re buying it at the store. If you have the time to make it, I use my own Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream.

- 1 1/2 cups vanilla ice cream
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup crushed peppermint
- 1/4 tsp peppermint extract
- Combine all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
- Garnish with crushed peppermint sprinkles and/or whipped cream, if desired.
- Serve cold.
