How to Make Healthy Banana Nut Bread (Without Added Sugar!)

Got extra ripe bananas? Here's a super yummy, healthy, and easy banana nut bread recipe. This moist banana bread has just the right amount of walnuts, and makes a great breakfast or healthy snack.  Plus it contains no added sweeteners!

  • 5 very ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat pastry flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 cup raw walnuts, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp coconut oil, for greasing loaf pan


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and line a 9x5 inch loaf pan with parchment paper, holding it steady with a little coconut oil, if needed.

  2. In a medium mixing bowl, mash the bananas using a fork or potato masher.

  3. Add the egg and vanilla and stir to combine. Set aside.
  4. In a separate mixing bowl, combine the flour, cinnamon, baking soda, and sea salt. Mix well.

  5. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir to combine. Do not over mix.
  6. Fold in the walnuts.
  7. Pour the mix into the prepared loaf pan.

  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean and top is golden brown
