Watch Me Make This Recipe
Naturally, my mind goes to ice cream.
Is that weird?
Because: cold, sweet things are amazing. And strawberries.
Since my 1 ingredient banana ice cream recipe was so fantastic, I thought about trying a similar kinda recipe.
But strawberries aren't quite as creamy as bananas.
Then, I realized what needed to be in this recipe. What would make it amazing, creamy, and even add protein.
And that magic, wondrous ingredient is: plain greek yogurt.
Yaas.
Strawberries + Greek Yogurt is my kind of perfection, peeps.
And, when I say perfection, what I really mean to say is it's easy, creamy, strawberry, sweet, icy, coolness.
All the things you want in your frozen ice cream treat...plus it's healthy!
Is Frozen Yogurt Healthier Than Ice Cream?
And by better, I mean better for our health. The answer, my friends, always depends on what those things are actually made of. Not all fro-yos are created equal, with many of them containing more sugar than regular ice cream.
This strawberry frozen yogurt recipe, however, is made from 100% real foods, which makes it clean, free of refined sugars, free of heavy creams, and all that junk that’s normally in store-bought ice creams. All you need is 4 ingredients and you’ve got yourself an amazing strawberry frozen yogurt.
We don’t need that other fake stuff.
We need THIS.
This goodness right here.
How to Make Strawberry Frozen Yogurt Without An Ice Cream Maker
I love using my food processor for this strawberry frozen yogurt recipe, but you could also use a heavy duty blender. You just need something that will break up the frozen strawberries and mash them into pureed strawberry goodness. You could also use a CREAMi if you have one, though it's not necessary.
Quick tip: If you have a little trouble getting the strawberries to blend, you can add a little water to help it along or blend in batches - it really depends on the size of your strawberries and the strength of your food processor or blender.

4 Ingredient Strawberry Frozen Yogurt
Equipment

Ingredients
- 4 cups strawberries
- 2 tablespoon raw honey
- ⅓ cup full fat plain greek yogurt
- 1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
Instructions
- Wash the strawberries and remove the stems. Slice in half.
- Lay the strawberries out evenly over a sheet of parchment paper and place into the freezer overnight or for at least 4-5 hours.
- Add the frozen strawberries, honey, greek yogurt, and lemon juice to a food processor.
- Process until creamy, about 5 minutes. You many need to scrape down the sides. If you find the strawberries are not fully blending, you can remove half and blend in batches and/or add a little water to help it along.
- Test for sweetness, and add additional honey as needed.
- Serve immediately or transfer to an airtight container and freeze for 2-3 hours for harder consistency.

Would this work in popsicle molds? Or would the recipe need to be altered?
Dustin
Yes, it would. That's a fantastic idea!
Lacey Baier
YES! I love that idea!!

hi made this and frozen but not creamy texture... can i put it in the food processor again frozen .. and blend up and put back in the freezer
Lacey Baier
It tends to harden more in the freezer and requires a little thawing and remixing. I like to allow it to thaw for 20-30 minutes, then it softens enough to stir together and become creamy again.

I am dairy free & wanted to know if there is an alternative to Greek yogurt in your recipes? If so, would they equal 1 for 1?
Thank you
Lacey Baier
Yes, any plain, plant-based yogurt will also work. It may not be quite as creamy, though.

I made this last Monday and it was heavenly even before I froze it! The flavor is so awesome. It does get a little hard to scoop once frozen so I just leave it out to soften and no issues. What a great no-guilt treat to have at the end of the day. Thank you!
Lacey Baier
Totally! I'm glad you found the trick to serving once frozen!

can i use frozen strawberries (that i bought in the freezer section of the grocery store)? or do i have to use fresh and then freeze them?
Lacey Baier
Yep! You can just skip the freezing steps 🙂
Cody Byrum
Is this four cups sliced strawberries, or four cups whole strawberries?
Lacey Baier
Halved Strawberries! Great question 🙂

This frozen yogurt looks delicious. I wish that I could have some right now. I wonder if I could find some cute spoons to eat with it. I'll probably just end up going to buy professionally made fro-yo. I hope that it'll be strawberry flavor.
Lacey Baier
Haha maybe one day 🙂
Laurie
Would this work in an ice cream maker?
Lacey Baier
Yes, it would work but you'd need to just blend the fresh strawberries, not freeze them.
Natasha
I made this over the weekend. Delicious!

Yay! So glad you enjoyed it 🙂
