If you follow me on facebook or twitter, you probably know the Baier family took a road trip to the East Coast a few weeks ago.
Yes. A Road Trip. With two little ones under the age of 2 1/2. I know.
It was super fun and very exciting to see so much of the country. Prior to this trip, the farthest east I had ever been was Texas. I know.
Here’s a list of the states/places we visited or drove through: Arkansas, Tennessee, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, Washington, D.C., New Jersey, Philadelphia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and then back to Texas. Few! In 10 days! By car!
Truth be told, the kids did great — after the first couple of days, Savannah gave into the car seat and decided to enjoy herself. Thank goodness! Prior to that, we thought about just turning around and going home. Or running away in Tennessee somewhere.
Highlights of the trip? Getting to visit all sorts of new areas of the nation and visiting our friends and family. I spoiled myself with all the delicious sweet tea in each state and also finally got to try a real Philly Cheesesteak and some Chicken and Waffles!
We visited my brother and his family, Dustin’s aunt and uncle and their family, Dustin’s other aunt, my friend and a whole lotta other stuff too. Lots of fun.
We were so busy driving and cramming as much visiting with family and friends in that we didn’t have a lot of time to sight-see — at least while I was wearing my camera.
Many of these photos are from our quick evening trip out to Washington, D.C. one evening to visit the major landmarks. Very cool stuff!
So, now we are already planning our next trip to Tennessee…or Alabama. Good times!
I hope you enjoy the photos!
Hello I am a recent guest to your blog. I was drawn to your series focusing on ‘how to start a food blog’ however I have not been able to locate the series I missed since august.
Are you still continuing with this series?
Thank you
Hi Daniela!
Yes, I am still planning to continue the series — just haven’t gotten around to it yet. I will try to get a post up soon! 🙂
I’m happy to hear of your interest.
So glad you guys got to enjoy your trip. Start the kids young so they get used to travelling. I’ve always travelled with my kids and it’s always been an adventure. You deserve it.
Thanks, Angelica! My family always traveled as well and I hope to continue it with my girls 🙂
Great pics! I love DC and have fond memories of bringing my kids there when they were little.
Trust me, bringing your kids on trips like this does a ton educationally.
And really Philly cheesesteaks, I’m jealous-although ‘m gonna make your French dip ASAP!
Thanks! It did a TON for me educationally too 🙂
