Healthy Honey Mustard Dressing Recipe | 4 ingredients dressing that's clean, healthy, and perfect for any salad | A Sweet Pea Chef

Honey mustard dressing is a favorite of mine. It’s sweet, it’s tangy, it’s creamy, it’s texture perfection, and it makes salads taste ah-mazing.

However, most store-bought salad dressings, including my beloved honey mustard dressing, are not healthy. They are loaded with preservatives, sugars, and unnecessary fats. To avoid all that, I have the perfect solution – make it at home from scratch  — and with just 4 ingredients!

In a matter of minutes, you can whip together a creamy and delicious salad dressing. Once you prep the ingredients, it literally takes seconds until the creamy dressing is ready to be used in your favorite salad. All you have to do is whisk the ingredients together.

Not a lot of effort, am I right?

And it tastes so, so good! Much better than any store-bought dressing! Plus – it’s clean, healthy, paleo, and totes delicious.

Store the dressing in the fridge and any time you want to put together a quick lunch or a light dinner, take it out, prep a quick salad, and turn it into a finger-licking good salad with the healthy honey mustard dressing. It will add creaminess, flavor, and so much goodness to your salad.

So flipping delicious!

I like this easy honey mustard dressing in chicken salads, particularly love it in my mason jar salads that are perfect for make-ahead lunch. There’s something so amazing about the combination of honey mustard dressing and chicken salad that I just cannot get enough of, I can’t help it.

But homemade honey mustard dressing is perfect for other salads as well. In fact, I believe it can make any salad taste amazing. Salads call my name when I use this dressing.

GREEK YOGURT VS MAYO IN SALAD DRESSING

Since you’re here looking for a healthy honey mustard salad dressing, I guessing we don’t really need a greek yogurt vs mayo debate. Because, frankly, most people know mayo is not the healthiest ingredient. Or the most nutritious. But, if you read my post on greek yogurt, you’ll know that greek yogurt is. It’s healthy and creamy and perfect for this mustard dressing recipe. Seriously, this honey mustard salad dressing wouldn’t be the same without Greek yogurt. The yogurt just makes the dressing more luxurious in terms of texture and flavor.

But if you need more reasons, here’s why mayonnaise is not good for you:

  • mayo, particularly store-bought mayo, is made with artificial ingredients, it’s very high in sodium, fats, and calories;
  • you can make mayo from scratch at home. It will definitely be more nutritious and healthier than the store-bought variety but it will still be high in fats and calories. Approximately 125 calories per tablespoon. Yikes!

And here’s why greek yogurt is good for you:

  • it’s healthy, it’s natural, and it doesn’t contain added sugars (if you opt for plain Greek yogurt, of course);
  • it’s rich, creamy, and it has the perfect texture to replace mayonnaise in most sauces and dressings including the healthy honey mustard dressing;
  • it’s higher in protein and lower in carbs compared to mayo (or other yogurts for that matter);
  • it’s low in calories compared to mayo. Like super-low in calories compared to mayo. Only 8 calories per tablespoon.

Greek yogurt definitely wins. And don’t even get me started about its health benefits because there are lots of them!

HOW TO STORE HOMEMADE HONEY MUSTARD DRESSING

Can you make honey mustard dressing and store it in the fridge? Yes! Yes, you can!

Store the honey mustard dressing in an airtight container – mason jars or glass bottles or any covered container.

Reach for it any time you want to make a lunch salad or side salad. I even like to use it as a dipping sauce sometimes. It’s that good!

HOW LONG DOES HONEY MUSTARD  DRESSING LAST?

Since I mentioned you can store it in the fridge, you’re probably wondering how long does salad dressing last.

Well, properly stored, as described above, the honey mustard dressing will last for 10-14 days in the fridge. However, since fresh is always best when it comes to salad dressing, I’d recommend using it within a week.

When ready to enjoy, just shake up the bottle before using!

  1. Hi Lacey, just wondering if you have the measurements in ml or grams for this recipe? As I live in South East Asia, I’m not family at all with using cup as measurement, I tried googling US cup conversion and it is just more confusing 🙁
