Hello there!
Now that Dustin, Jordan and I are officially Texas residents, we wanted to do our first fun activity as such. Before moving to Austin, I read about all the great trails and scenic areas Austin has to offer, but we hadn't yet had an opportunity to check them out.
One specific trail that really interested me was Austin's Town Lake Trail which travels along Lake Austin near the downtown area. During the warmer months, this area is usually packed with joggers, walkers, bicyclists and the like, but we found this trail mostly to ourselves in the early (chilly) morning. Score!
Well, it was a bit colder than I'm used to (about 42 degrees at 9:30 a.m.), but we really enjoyed this trail.
*Note to self: I seriously need to purchase (1) a beanie, (2) gloves and (3) a heavy jacket. My California-wear is just not cutting it.
I thought this trail was so pretty that I wanted to share with you for my Saturday post.
As I look through these pictures, I already want to go again. I'm sure it will become a favorite walking and running area for us. It was so peaceful, beautiful and, well, awesome.
I just love the brisk winter air, the beautiful scenery and the changes in colors all around us in the trees. I can tell I am very much going to enjoy living in Austin.
We also noticed you could go kayaking along the lake which sounds like a great time...though likely for warmer weather. I know, right? Let's not get ahead of ourselves.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. We are spending a few days in Arkansas for Dustin's father's memorial service, but plan to be back to our new home soon.
Enjoy!
Miss Becky
Hi Lacey, thanks for the lovely walking tour of your new neighborhood there in Austin. If that's what winter looks like you are very lucky! We just had our second blizzard in as many weeks here in Wisconsin but for some reason I'm loving it this year. I too would be walking that trail if I lived there. May peace be with you, Dustin, and your family.

Hi Miss Becky! I don't even know how to imagine the type of winter you're talking about. I think would freeze to death. Thanks for your thoughts during this difficult time.

Nice images.
I am sure that the park bench in the picture could tell a story or two ๐

Love the longhorn sweatshirt. Looks like you're fitting in very well. Loved the photos. There's a great REI store downtown if you're looking for cold weather gear. Check it out at:

Have a safe trip to Arkansas. Our thoughts will be with you, Dustin and his family. -Jeanne

Hi Jeanne! Thanks for the heads up about REI. There's one right near us that has caught my eye -- I'm gonna have to go check it out. Thanks for the tip!
Thank you also for your thoughts about Dustin's father.
