We had the most amazing experience the other day on our afternoon walk.
There's this cool country back road we like using for our walks that's close to our home. Near where we usually stop and turn around, there's this gorgeous open pasture that is probably 5-10 acres wide. I usually make a comment to Dustin about how pretty it is, he agrees and then we turn around and walk back home.
On this last walk, it was especially beautiful because of all the wildflowers.
Then, we noticed a brown horse way off at the opposite end of the pasture. He seemed to notice us and then went back to eating. We all thought it was neat that there was a horse in the pretty pasture and then prepared to turn around and go home.
Jordan, of course, wanted to go pet it -- but we explained how that wouldn't be possible since the horse was so far away and would never come close to us.
But, then, we saw a little donkey appear next to the horse. They kinda looked like they were friends.
The donkey actually started running towards us. It was the coolest thing ever!
He (or she) ran all the way over to us, stopped by the fence and allowed Jordan and me to walk over to pet him. It was awesome. Austin is so cool!
The horse never came too close, but the donkey made a few trips back and forth between us and even let out a loud "hee-haw" which got Jordan all excited.
Okay -- and me.
We wanted to remember this event so we walked back to our house and grabbed my camera.
I hope you enjoy the photos!

This donkey really is so cute and made me giggle. Reminds me of Donkey on Shrek. Welcome to Austin! I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. My husband and I moved here about 8 years ago from up north and love it down here. We since have had 2 children- a 3 year old girl and a 15 month old boy and are so delighted by how many family friendly things there are to do in this town. Thank you for this great useful website. You have some great tips and your recipes are doable. We love cooking and your recipes look ideal from where we are in our lives.

I adore horses and donkeys. What a cool experience. I had one similar a few weeks ago with two horses in a field. I am such a nerd, but I was driving, saw them and was compelled to stop. Both came running towards me and let me pet them. I finally had to leave.
That field in your pictures is incredible.
