Clean, delicious, and so amazingly simple to prepare, life is better with these spicy shrimp tacos. Wrap them up in homemade corn tortillas, and top with fresh pico de gallo and a creamy avocado cilantro lime crema.
If you're the kinda person who skips to the end of the book before reading the beginning, here's the main point of this post: Eat these spicy shrimp tacos right now!
While I'm not one for skipping to the end, I realize these shrimp tacos kinda scream, "EAT ME!" so I figured it was a good time to jump to the end.
Also, if you've been following along for a while, you know I have also shared a Pico De Gallo and a Homemade Corn Tortillas recipe.
One. You're totes welcome 🙂
Two. It's time to put this whole shebang together.
It's. So. Time.
What Do You Put In Shrimp Tacos?
These spicy shrimp tacos are like OMG good.
Especially if you also make the homemade corn tortillas and pico de gallo yourself, it's a lil' bit of taco heaven with these green chile pork tacos.
And, if you're anything like me, you appreciate the goodness and simplicity of a good shrimp taco.
Speaking of goodness, I also drizzled my Avocado Cilantro Lime Sauce (AKA Dressing) over the top of these bad boys AS IF to push these spicy shrimp tacos another step higher with the OMG factor.
Definitely worked. SO GOOD!
Now, if your idea of spicy entails watering eyes, blurred vision, and lots of "good" pain, you're gonna wanna add a lil' more heat with either cayenne, jalapeños, and/or hot sauce.
BUT if you're like me and you like the sting of some heat, but you'd rather cry, these babies are perfect.
I also HIGHLY recommend some good tortillas. You could have the tastiest fillings ever, but without a good corn tortilla, your tacos will never reach their full potential.
And we want our tacos at their highest potential, am I right?
Even if you don't make these tasty homemade corn tortillas, look for good quality, soft, and flexible tortillas to enjoy with these spicy shrimp tacos. Or, really, for any taco.
Peeps, it's pretty safe to say there are lots of recipes on this blog that I love and enjoy frequently. But these spicy shrimp tacos are the culmination of SEVERAL of those recipes.
That means there’s lots of good stuff in them so I hope you give these spicy shrimp tacos a try.

How To Store Shrimp Tacos
Oh! Another great thing about this spicy shrimp taco recipe is that all the ingredients store really well. You just need to keep them all separated until it's time to assemble the tacos.
They also store really well so save the homemade pico de gallo, avocado cilantro lime sauce, tortillas, and spicy shrimp in separate containers and break out the best left-overs ever.
Then, when you’re in the mood for some spicy shrimp tacos, you can easily break out the best leftovers ever.
You can freeze the cooked shrimp separately by laying out flat on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and then placing into the freezer. Once the shrimp is fully frozen, just toss all of them into a freezer safe container or bag and store for later. The tortillas will also freeze, but the pico de gallo and avocado cilantro lime crema are both best if prepared fresh.
What is a Good Side Dish for Shrimp Tacos?
These spicy shrimp tacos are great for a healthy weeknight dinner or pretty much any festive celebration. Hello: shrimp tacos rock any time, anywhere.
Throwing a Cinco de Mayo fiesta? Or maybe just entertaining guests and looking for a side dish to go with these shrimp tacos? You can serve some grilled corn, cilantro lime rice, or roasted sweet potatoes to balance the vibrant, spicy flavors of the spicy shrimp tacos. The perfect sides to round out a Mexican-inspired meal! Also pair with a refreshing Homemade Horchata.

Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 lb shrimp, deveined
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon chili powder
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne
- ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- ½ teaspoon granulated onion
- 6-8 corn tortillas
For Topping:
Instructions
- To cook the shrimp, heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil.
- Add the large, peeled and deveined shrimp to the hot oil.
- To season the shrimp, add garlic powder, chili powder, cayenne pepper, ground black pepper, sea salt, and granulated onion to the pan and stir to evenly cover the shrimp with the seasoning. (This seasoning mix will leave the shrimp decently spicy so if you want less heat, remove the cayenne or add more cayenne to add more heat.)
- Cook the shrimp, stirring frequently, until the shrimp is golden on the outside and no longer transparent on the inside.
- Lay a corn tortilla flat on a clean surface.
- Pile several shrimp onto the center of the tortilla, followed by the pico de gallo, and then drizzle with my avocado cilantro sauce over the top.

Made these last night for a Cinco de Mayo Zoom party with family members. Delicious! The seasoning for the shrimp couldn't be easier, but it's the pico de gallo and the avocado sauce that really make the dish. I used store-bought tortillas, but I'm making the tacos again tonight, and this time I'll make the tortillas myself. Thanks for a great recipe that comes together in no time!

I've made your delicious roast beef so many times! (usually into a pretty awesome sandwich with carmelized onions, goat cheese butter or other deliciously decadent things). And I'm so excited to try these tacos now too! will be making them tonight!! 💕
