Are you considering bone broth in your healthy diet? Great idea! In this post, I'm sharing the best bone broth for weight loss. It features 5 fabulous brands that are top quality and super good for you.
If you do your research on the best weight-loss foods available (or even meal replacement options), chances are you've run across the hype surrounding bone broth.
Is it as healthy as they say? What are the benefits, and how do I drink it to get great results?
These are probably some of the questions bouncing around your mind, and wellโyou've come to the right place!
As most of you might know, I'm an advocate of anything clean, simple, and delicious. So when bone broth started having a moment in the world of health and wellnessโฆI decided to try it for myself! And oh boy, am I all for it.
In my years of struggling with my weight, I have realized that the journey to clean eating and healthy living is best when it's fun and sustainable. Bone broth offers that.
It's practically like having a nice warm bowl ofโฆbroth?! Obvious as it may seem, as with all things hypedโit pays to understand best practices and the truth behind every weight loss "hack."
Read on to discover how and why bone broth should be your favorite weight loss ally.
Does Drinking Bone Broth Help You Lose Weight?
Yes, a good amount of studies show that bone broth can help with weight loss. Itโs low in calories but packs a generous amount of protein. This makes it great for curbing your appetite and increasing lean muscle mass respectively.
And when youโre trying to lose weight, it's best to maintain a good amount of lean muscle mass because this helps your body burn more calories even during rest. Now I donโt know about you, but that sounds pretty darn amazing to me.
Another reason bone broth is good for weight loss is that - although itโs very low in calories - it can still satisfy your hunger (because it keeps you full).
Why Do Celebrities Drink Bone Broth?
Itโs no secret that the rise in popularity of this age-old dish is making a comeback and with the likes of Hollywood A-listers, no less. Kylie Jenner revealed to Harperโs Bazaar that itโs the first thing she drinks in the morning.
Gwyneth Paltrow called it โwinterโs miracle drinkโ while Shailene Woodley is another fan of this amazing soup. As is Lacey Baier ; )
Like I was saying earlier, there is no shortage of hype around bone broth!
Soooo why are celebs so drawn to it?
Here are more benefits of bone broth and why you should start drinking it, too:
- Vitamins and minerals: Animal bones contain magnesium, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, and other minerals good for strengthening your bones.
- Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids: These are also found in bone marrow. Theyโre great for preventing inflammation and regulating blood pressure.
- Collagen: This is a protein thatโs also been granted the spotlight. Usually sold as a powder, collagen is best known for its anti-aging and weight management benefits (plus skin, hair, and nail health). In fact, the cleanish Collagen Peptides supplement is an addition I've made to the cleanish Brand and is an easy way to boost your collagen intake!
- Amino acids: If all that isnโt enough, this magical broth also contains lycine and arginine which have strong anti-inflammatory effects.
How Does Bone Broth Heal The Gut?
Bone broth can help heal the gut because it contains gelatin (which helps your gut process food more easily). Because of this, it helps support healthy digestion and thatโs GREAT for gut health.
This broth may also help people with inflammatory bowel diseases and leaky gut.
Did you know your gut is known as the second brain? Keeping it healthy has so many benefits. A healthy gut helps improve your mood, protects you from infections, gives you better sleep, and helps boost your immunity. To say the least.
Does Store-Bought Bone Broth Have Collagen?
A good-quality bone broth should be rich in collagen. You get this from the connective tissues of joints and bones. I suggest looking for a bone broth that contains at least 10 grams of protein for every cup to ensure youโre getting maximum benefits.
What Qualifies As A Good Bone Broth?
When it comes to a good bone broth, weโre looking for yummy, no-filler, healthy options that can best accompany your meals or even serve as a replacement.
My criteria included flavor and variety, nutritional benefits, and of course, value for money. Ready? Here are the 5 brands that made the cut!
- Bare Bones Beef Bone Broth
So good, I can drink this all day. The texture was light but with a deliciously well-rounded flavor. I love the combination of ingredients used.
The rich mix of beef bones with tomatoes, organic vegetables, and herbs combined with sea salt, bay leaves, and black pepper, all created a cozy and sumptuous experience. Itโs a yes for me!
- Swanson Chicken Bone Broth
Thereโs a distinct flavor of black pepper with the comforting chicken flavor you normally get from a good batch of stock. This could last in your pantry for a year and itโs reasonably priced (given the quality and savory yumminess you get from this broth).
Swanson's bone broth is definitely great for those on a budget and looking to maximize the nutritional benefits.
- Bonafide Provisions Beef Bone Broth
You might need to add a bit more seasoning to this one but thatโs okay, spices are great for you! (learn about The Best Anti-Inflammatory Spices).
This broth is known for its light and clean aroma which makes it perfect to keep drinking alongside meals. Also great to cook with for soups and savory recipes.
- Vital Proteins Organic, Grass-Fed Beef Collagen Peptides
I added this because of its convenience. It actually comes as a powder so you can easily blend it into soups, stews (like this Healthy Slow Cooker Beef Stew), and even good quinoa.
Each pouch has nine grams of collagen per serving so youโre getting a good bang for your buck, too. Just my kind of thing.
And as mentioned above, the cleanish Brand now has a collagen peptide too. Consider that as another convenient option when looking for a powder. Highly absorbent, cleanish Collagen Peptides come in an unflavored powder or Vanilla Bean flavor. Both can be added to water, smoothies, milk, and even your morning coffee.
- Kettle & Fire Bone Broth
I find this brand particularly tasty. It comes in a lot of creative flavors (like lemongrass ginger beef) and it's made using regenerative agriculture. Not to mention, it's got 10 grams of protein per serving! A great choice indeed.

I now take the Vital Protein powder in the blue canister. Iโm looking for weight loss as well as overall health. Does the bone broth offer any help with weight loss that the Vital proteins do not, and is there a benefit in switching to one of them or doing the bone broth in addition to the Vital proteins? I am on blood pressure medicine and take several supplements like turmeric and fish oil. I have degenerative joint disease and take anti-inflammatories. I could stand to lose 60lbs and am committed, ready to make changes but need guidance getting started. I have read up on Dr Kellyanns bone broth but am looking for something more economical and easily available.
