Honey Mustard Chicken Marinade | Spice up boring chicken with this delicious and healthy honey mustard chicken marinade.  The perfect solution for how to make moist chicken! | A Sweet Pea Chef this RECIPE

Let me start by saying I may be a lil' biased about this honey mustard chicken marinade because we make it ALL the time in our home.  It's darn tasty.

Plus it's easy, healthy, and quick.  <--- love.

This recipe is one that's pretty difficult to get tired of because of how tasty it is and how juicy and tender it makes the chicken.  And, since chicken breast is one of the leanest, healthiest meats, we eat it often in order to stay healthy.

One of the biggest struggles I used to have with eating healthy was making sure there was food ready to eat that was good for me.

Because when you’re hungry, you really don’t want to spend your time cooking.  Instead, you want to spend your time EATING and enjoying your healthy food and all the weight and health progress that comes along with it.

And THAT is why I love marinated chicken.

Finding different tasty marinades to use for boneless, skinless chicken breasts has been uber helpful with keeping me on track with meal prep.

How to Make Chicken Moist

So.  Why is marinating chicken helpful?  I'm so glad you asked!

  • creates easy, flavorful chicken without much work (yay!)
  • all sorts of options to spice up boring chicken
  • marinating chicken makes it juicier and more tender
  • can start marinating up to a day in advance for chicken
  • makes meal prep easier
  • can marinade in bulk
  • keeps calories down because chicken is so flavorful

How to Use Leftover Marinade

Bonus tip: You can use the leftover honey mustard chicken marinade to baste meats or vegetables for your next meal.

To make sure you don't use any of the marinade that touches the raw chicken, prepare the marinade in a separate bowl and then save for later.

Sorry, had to add that mom advice in there for ya.  I was powerless.

Oh, and don’t worry about the leftover marinade thickening to a sauce after boiling—it will still be a great way to lend your next dish that delicious honey mustard flavor.

When Dustin and I are meal prepping, we'll get a couple different marinades going for chicken so we can easily prepare different meals in bulk.  This honey mustard chicken marinade and my cilantro lime chicken are our faves most of the time.

Now, let's get real.  Honey mustard anything rocks.  So, creating a honey mustard marinade using clean ingredients to help meal prep so you can stay healthy and happy seems to be a pretty BIG win all around.

Honey Mustard Chicken Marinade

So, if you wanna keep up eating healthy, but you get tired of the same old chicken recipe all day every day, try this super tasty and easy honey mustard chicken marinade to change things up.

You’ll sure be glad ya did!

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup raw honey
  • ⅓ cup stone ground mustard
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the raw honey, stone ground mustard, paprika, sea salt, ground black pepper, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, and cayenne, and stir well.
  • Add the boneless, skinless chicken breasts and submerge into the marinade.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for at least an hour or up to one night. (You could also place everything into a large ziplock bag as well.)
  • Once the chicken has marinated, heat olive oil over medium-high heat in a large skillet.
  • Once the oil is hot, add the chicken and cook flipping occasionally, until chicken is cooked through and golden brown on all sides, about 4-6 minutes per side.

If you want this be healthy, why would you use honey? The recipe becomes infinitely more healthier if you pass on the honey.

Yes anyone who thinks a natural substance is unhealthy needs to get their head examined. This was awesome! I love honey mustard chicken. I eat mostly whole foods (meat, vegetables, nuts, whole fat dairy, fruit) and thats whats healthy. Not stuff made in a lab or in a box. I will be making this again.

YES! Can't really go wrong with Honey Mustard, can you? I used chicken thighs. (I prefer meat on the bone.) And, we only had stone ground dijon mustard. Added a couple of cloves minced garlic. Broiled the chickens in the oven. WOW! SO moist and tasty! We're putting this in our fave dishes rotation. Thanks for sharing the recipe! Yummy!!

First-time visitor to your blog...this recipe is amazing! Thank you Lacey!! It's November in Seattle and I'm still grilling. Neighbors think I'm crazy. My whole (picky) family loved how juicy the chicken was while there was so much "dirt" from the grill. I always slice my chicken breasts lengthwise so they're even thickness, then marinaded them for a couple of hours. I grilled them on high with the lid closed for 5 minutes on one side and about 3 on the other. So good. Making this all of the time now.

Trying this out today, but I noticed in the video you said:
    Dry Cumin
    Dry Ginger

However, neither of these ingredients are in the recipe or directions.... how much of each?

I made it tonight , and let me tell you the marinade could be bottled and sold. I think if I make again I will grill or put on rack. Chicken was really moist but I lost some of the flavor cooking in it own juice. Great recipe. Thank you.

    This looks delicious!

I'm going to put chicken pieces in a covered ceramic casserole dish, pour on your marinade, and microwave 15 - 20 minutes. Fast, easy, moist way to cook chicken.

Then serve over brown rice, with a green veg, and your remaining sauce poured over it.

    Thanks!
