My kids love pears. It is one of the fruits I get asked for the most, next to mangos. So it made total sense to me to come up with a protein shake option for this delicious fruit.

Add some fun spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, plus the sweetness of raw honey, and you have another excellent protein shake to add to the rotation.

Ingredient Notes

  • Protein: From a flavor perspective, any vanilla protein can be swapped, but I recommend using one with as few ingredients as possible. (For help on protein powder, check out my post Protein Powder | The Ultimate Guide For Beginners)
  • Almond Milk: I like to use unsweetened almond milk, but you can really swap it with any preferred milk option. For no added sugars, look for options that are unsweetened.
  • Pears: My favorite type of pear for this is an anjou pear, but you could use a bosc pear or whatever you happen to have.
  • Raw Honey: I add a touch of raw honey for a little more sweetness, but you could swap for our maple syrup or monk fruit extract if you'd like.

FAQs

What can you add to fruit smoothies for protein?

I normally add protein powder. However, you could also add greek yogurt, chia seeds, flaxseed or peanut butter for some more protein although they won't have as much protein as protein powder.

Can I Substitute Apples For Pears

Yes, apples would be a good substitute for pears, although the flavor will change some.
