Today’s lesson: When life gives you apples, make Cinnamon Apples!
Because what’s better than easy, delicious, and clean-eating cinnamon apples?
There’s something kind of magical about cinnamon apples. I mean, c’mon now – we’re talking just a few ingredients here. HOW are they so amazingly delicious? Like stuff my mouth with the whole pan of cinnamon apples delicious?
Judge me all you want – try these babies and tell me you don’t agree.
If you’ve wondered how to make cinnamon apples, they are so ridiculously easy to make and are great during this time of year. They’ll make your home smell like the holidays and are a lovely topping to yogurt, ice cream, pancakes, waffles or just by themselves.
Because why on earth wouldn’t you want to do such things, right?
I used to make these cinnamon apples with butter and brown sugar, but have reworked the recipe to use completely unrefined oils and sugars and I love this recipe even more. You don’t even miss the old ingredients.
While you could make this recipe with most any variety of apple, I prefer the sweeter, crisper apples, like Gala and Fuji because they don’t require much additional coconut sugar and hold up well when heated.
That being said, I recommend taking the apples off the heat before they get super tender and flimsy. Right before that point is the perfect time because they’ll have the most texture when you enjoy them.
Any longer and they can tend to get mushy which, while still tasty, is not ideal.
How To Make Cinnamon Apples

- 4 apples Fuji and Gala work great, peeled, cored and sliced into even 1/4 inch thick slices
- 1/4 cup coconut sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp ground ginger
- 1/8 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the apples, coconut sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and salt. Toss to evenly coat the apples.
- Add coconut oil and allow to melt.
- Cook apple mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 8 to 10 minutes or until apples are almost fully tender.
